An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a PC and is the intermediary between all the applications and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Identical to a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System which functions as a host for any software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so it is possible to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast with the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

The dedicated server plans that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license fees, but they’re also known as the most reliable and safe OSs. We provide three different ones since each of them is backed by a separate community. The packages which you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter in case you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the Operating System that you'll choose. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, yet if necessary, we can always set up the server anew with another one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the package at any time, we can update your OS regularly so as to keep it as risk-free as possible.
