FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol – a pretty popular method of exchanging files between a computer and a server. Using an FTP program like CuteFTP or FileZilla, you can connect to the server and see its content in one pane, whereas the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the program window. All you have to do to send files or whole directories in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. File Transfer Protocol is preferred by lots of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be limited to connect to just one directory on the server, so a designer, for instance, can carry out their job without being able to access any other directory in the web hosting account. Also, the availability of different FTP accounts will also enable you to build multiple websites with web design applications like FrontPage or Dreamweaver and to upload them to their corresponding folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Cloud Website Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you like with each of the Linux cloud website hosting packages that we are offering, because we have chosen not to restrict this feature. Thus, you can maintain multiple sites at once or give other persons access to separate directories. Once a given job has been completed and you wouldn’t like that person to be able to access your files any longer, you can edit the password for the given FTP account or you can just remove that account with several mouse clicks and stop worrying about anybody using it again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared packages, will permit you to check the full list of the active FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes only one click of the mouse to administer various options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your websites under a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to set up a different FTP account for each of them, as we haven’t limited this feature with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-work-with Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, together with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If needed, you’ll be able to update the password for a given account or to change its access path with several clicks. You can also remove an account without efforts in case you don’t need it any longer – for instance, if you have hired a web developer who is finished with the site and you don’t want them to access your web files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we’ve selected a number of tutorial video clips, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without effort in case you’ve never used a web hosting package previously.
